Like a candle, our flame will come on strong and burn us out. The sun will set. The fullness of life will be behind us. And we will need a lamp to guide our steps, one fallen leaf at a time.
Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong? Like you’re shipwrecked in a strange world that doesn’t know what to do with you. You stand out like a lamp in a room without power. You’re a flame in the cool shadows. A fire floating on water.
You may not always see God working, but He could be doing the miraculous just beyond your vision.
We are all a little wary in the dark. All need a little light to find our way. The warm glow of a street lamp to guide our feet in a world that’s getting darker every day. Let’s use night lights again. Let’s brighten every room. Tiny rock lamps on every outlet. Let’s bring in Christmas lights no matter the season. Let’s all be kids again, fighting to see in the dark.
